Hi Nick,
There is the related legal question about whether or not any LZW
implementations might be infringing on the Unisys patent, or if that
even matters anymore. This was the related issue I was attempting to
elucidate the other night. In other words an additional question
related to the contribution.
If that is trouble then it may not matter if we get the author to
change the license as the contribution may need to go. I don't now
what that means for HDGF...
Regards,
Dave

So, yes, one for legal-discuss for now. I'll go and subscribe,
Yukka do you want to kick of the issue over there to get us started?
I have an email ready to go to legal-discuss about this, but I'm
holding off for a few days. I'm talking with the author of vsdump
about dual licensing the file in question, which would mean we
wouldn't need to seek an exemption, which'd make everyone's lives
much easier :)
I should hopefully hear back more from Valek by the weekend (he's a
bit busy over the next few days), but if that doesn't work I will
take things over to legal-discuss as originally planned
Nick
