Hi All

The issues around the download page updating have reminded me that I think we ought to switch how we publish to the website. At the moment, we need to take the forrest output and manually copy it up to people.apache.org, then wait a few hours. Instead, I think we should do what Tika (amongst others) do and commit the forrest output to a special bit of svn, where it'll almost instantly hit the live website.

I've had a chat with the infra guys, and they're happy for us to do so. So, if no-one shouts in the next day, I'll go ahead and make the change.

For anyone interested, there's more information on both svnpubsub, and the new CMS which some projects use at:
http://journal.paul.querna.org/articles/2010/10/22/evolution-of-apaches-websites/
(Note - I'm not suggesting we switch from Forrest to the new CMS, just from scp-to-people then wait to svnpubsub)

Nick
