Hi everyone,

The Apache Polaris community is pleased to announce Apache Polaris 1.4.0.

Apache Polaris 1.4.0 is our first release post-graduation. It introduces
several key advancements in security, cloud integration, and observability.
This release significantly enhances credential vending with support for AWS
STS session tags, storage-scoped credentials, and principal-based
subscoping. Observability is improved with the ability to persist Iceberg
metrics directly to the database and refined privilege requirements for
metrics reporting. Cloud capabilities are expanded through S3 KMS
encryption support and more precise Azure ADLS hierarchical namespace
management. Additionally, the release adds CockroachDB support for
relational persistence, integrates the Kubernetes Gateway API into the Helm
chart, and migrates to a Guava-based rate limiter for improved stability.
