Hi to all who replied to my problem
My original message is below
I have been out of email comms at the office so I've only just got the
replies - sorry for the delay. I'm trying to get our budget sorted out at
the office so I can buy a few new machine which I want to run Linux on. So
then I'll have both systems on my desk at the same time - will make these
tests easier.

At home I use a dual boot for Linux Mandrake and Windows and at the office I
still only have the Windows OOo 1.1.3.

So here at the office I have just gone into my OOo and entered a line of
text into the blank screen and pressed Save As, and, this time, the only
list of formats I'm presented with is as follows:

OpenOffice.org Master Document (.sxg)
StarWriter 5.0 Master Document (.sgl)
StarWriter 4.0 Master Document (.sgl)
Text Encoded (OpenOffice.org master Docume.... runs off the end of the
window)

And thats all.
There's no vertical side bar to see the fuller list - thats all there is.
I'm thinking I must remove the suite and reload it again and see what
happens.
I will also try both Linux and Windows at home again and try and take a
screen shot (will your list be able to see a screen shot in the email or are
you only text based?)

Subject: Wordprocessor saving files for MS Word format

Hi
I am using OpenOffice.org 1.1.3 on both Windows 98 and in Linux Mandrake
10.1 and I can't understand why the option to save a document in the Word
Processor does not automatically allow all the format options when you use
Save As.
The initial empty document screen allows all the formats but when I've been
working on a document and retrieve it I find that the next save format
options "exclude" the MS Word formats etc.
I'm finding that I have to select the whole document and copy it into the
initial blank page so I can save it in MS Word format. This is crazy!!
Can the program be forced to always include the full list or is this a bug?
I am trying to pursuade our church office to swing away from the MicroSoft
systems onto open source and it is very necessary to have all the formats
available all the time so that a mixed network environment (Windows / Linux)
can share documents easily and without fiddling.
Thanks
