You soultion would certainly reflect more forward thinking.
I also use Firefox and always hold down the control key when clicking a link on a page I do not wish to lose. This should open the new page in a new tab in the same window.

Hi Am cc'ing the QA dev list...
The page:
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi
Has a link called "Keywords:" on the page. This link opens in the SAME window as the original page. Please make this link open a new page so that if I click on it, I won't lose all of the data I have just entered on the form.
I had filled out the form completely and then, saw a link to a definition of keywords for searching and clicked it to verify that I had entered apropos keywords. The new page opened in the SAME window that I was working on. Had I been an inexperienced computer user, I would have been frustrated that all of my form-filling-work was suddenly "gone."
I was using Firefox 1.0.1 on XP Professional SP2 at the time this
happened.
Thanks for taking the effort to let us know!
