This message appears to be from the setup program...

I installed slightly differently - instead of running soffice.exe, I ran
setup.exe from the installed location (the default C:\Program
Files\OpenOffice.org1.1.5\). The DOS box appeared as setup.exe finished,
leading to the conclusion that it is a problem in setup.exe, not soffice.exe.

Apart from that minor difference, my installation procedure was the same. It
was on an AMD K6-2/500, running Windows 98 SE
