Hi Joerg

the first question i have is when and who writes the testools .bas files ?

Test Automators of the Quality Assurance.

Are some developpers requeted to write some ?

1. At development stage (CWS)
-> for resource tests of new / changed features

is this process visible at EIS ? in an issue ?

i plan to gather some volunteers to do a "continuous testing effort"
each time a version is built (no matter if it is a RC or a developper snapshot), the testools would be run and error reported at early stage.

Great idea!

well that's what automated tests are for :-)

some french people volunteered and i think we can start an experimentation on this. The main interrest is to do this out of the scope of a release to inform the developpers asap that something went wrong so that the ideas are fresh in their mind

That's what we also do here in the Automated GUI Testing project at Sun.

ok
Moreover, even of same plateforms, context are perharps different

OOo is supporting more platforms than StarOffice, so it would make sense to share the results of that work. That was also the idea of a "Google Summer Of Code" project but it has not been accepted by Google...

so i'll launch this as an experiment with french volunteers (well, other are welcommed, but first weeks will be for setup)

The main thing to work on is the reporting so that it does not disturb the existing process and gives usefull informations For a first shoot, What about an IZ gathering result files containing errors + a summarry filled by each testers
I'm totally open to suggestions ...

I think the work can be organized on a wiki (a matrix with a new line at each version, contains status of the test and IZ number)

Maybe we (also Thorsten Bosbach from the same project team will be there) can talk about your idea in Lyon face to face?

Sure !!!!

But i'll have the Extensions meeting at the same time that the QA meeting. I think we can manage to find some time after :-)

Bye

Laurent
