This seems to be more a file-association issue which you can work it out by setting a folder option from Internet Explorer.

drop down choices only include RTF Rich Text Format/ Text Document/ Text Document - MS-DOS format/ Unicode Text Document. I need to be able to save in a .doc format that is more compatible with the software (usually Microsoft Word) that my editors/publishers are using. Open Office 2.3.1 allowed this. Help!


This is strange since we don't support MS-DOS format (ever) i think your issue was more on the lines of your document be corrupted so it can't open the file.

So try this, go to Tools > Options > General > Save where you will see the formats. Here is a help for each of the options
