Strange hang in console

When running console I got:
Searching for objects of class testobject in packages com.redhat.stress_agent
^C!!! Unhandled exception

/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/qmf.rb:1128:in `send_query'

/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/monitor.rb:242:in `synchronize'
/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/qmf.rb:971:in `objects'
The console was hung for at least 5 minutes on the 'Searching for objects...'
line, so I hit control-C and got that traceback.
$ ./console.rb -t testobject -s -x 10000
$ ./stress_agent -b tp.mains.priv -n 50
Again this is with the agent on a separate machine and qpidd and console on the
same machine.
