Are you using the ProtectIO feature, or did you just notice this bug whilst
investigating some of the other issues in the configuration?
I ask as I happen to have recently removed the feature entirely during some
work I am currently doing. For varying reasons it appears it hasn't been
possible to enable this feature in at least the last 6 Qpid releases if not
more, going back to 2007 if not earlier. It seems to be completely untested and
investigating the subject suggested it was disabled in that timeframe as a
result of causing errors during use. The implementation also seems less than
ideal, blocking threads in the shared processing thread pool. Similar
functionality was it seems eventually incorporated into newer versions of Mina
(which we cant currently use, also working on that...), so it might warrant
re-examination as and when we can use those but for now its firmly on my list
of untested functionality noone is/can be/should be using that we should
actually just remove to make the code base more healthy and managable.
