Gordon suggests that the windows client uses PLAIN by default, but does not
supply a username. Try adding
{NOFORMAT}
--connection-options '{sasl_mechanisms:ANONYMOUS}' or
--connection-options '{username:foo}'
{NOFORMAT}
to your connection creation
