I believe that the qdstat program is timing out waiting for a response from the 
router.  You can increase the timeout period using the -t option.  It's 
possible that with a longer timeout, you will eventually get a response.

I believe there is a problem with the router-core thread.  Either it is very 
busy, it is spinning, or it is stopped.  The CPU usage will shed light on this 
question.
