AMQP 1.0 supports the notion of different message formats, with only message
format 0 being defined in the core specification.
We can utilise different message formats to support the transport of AMQP 0-x
messages over AMQP 1.0. The intended use case is for broker to broker
federation where we do not wish to lose fidelity to the original message, but
we also do not want to have to set up separate inter-broker links for
transporting different messages of differing original protocols.
