Sounds great! I really wish I could have installed 4.0 last week and not 3.X.
One question concerning the Template editor enhancements and the manually-selected content-type: will it be possible to omit the charset altogether? From playing with tomcat recently I learnt that a servlet that uses a http response's writer object has a default charset added by default in the HTTP content-type header ... and this is certainly not always appropriate for XML. To omit the charset one needs to use the response's stream and (for velocity) make a writer from this stream "by hand" using java.io.*.
