Nicolas, With Roller 5.x media files are still stored in the file system. The major difference is that there is a file-system directory for each blog, and each media file is stored by ID rather than name. In the database we store meta-data about each media-file including the "virtual folder" in which it is stored. Each media files has it's own URL and that URL does not change if you move the file from one "virtual folder" to another.
