I don't know about you, but when I'm trying something really new, I just want to commit it some place so I don't lose it if my computer blows up. Later, I might get to a point where I want to share it with others and have them help me. IMO, I wouldn't worry about Ant/Maven/CI until you have reached that point. Just keep on hacking...
