I've built both an xpi (Firefox) and crx (Chrome) version of the plugin. They
both persist between restarts and should work on stable releases of each
browser. I have generated a .pem (private key) file for signing our Chrome
plugin.
The Firefox plugin was generated via the Mozilla add-ons dashboard, as there
wasn't really a very convenient way to integrate it with our build pipeline,
and the act of getting the web-ext command line tool was more trouble than it
was worth.
Artifacts have been generated for both.
