I think if we maintain multiple versions, for the old version we don’t need add 
new feature, we only need fix serious bug, for example a serious security 
problem has not been discovered in the release version.

If we never update for JDK7, users need to be forced to upgrade to JDK8. In 
some cases, it is unrealistic to upgrade some legacy system to JDK8.

For the maintenance version, we can reduce the frequency of the release, for 
example we can release a version for half a year.
