Hello all

just found this newly open sourced java library from Esri (Apache licensed):
https://github.com/Esri/geometry-api-java/
At a very quick first look, its look like a possible replacement to JTS
(Java Topology Suite) - at least partially, I don't know yet if the new
library covers as much. Given that JTS is under LGPL license, this
alternative under Apache 2 license may help.
However this library seems to have approximatively the same scope than
the JTS library, namely two-dimensional geometries, maybe in Cartesian
space (I didn't checked if they have this restriction too). Having the
three-dimensional geometries defined by ISO 19107 may still an other
business.
The plan that I would like to propose is to create ISO 19107 wrappers
around those geometries, i.e. uses ISO 19107 interfaces in the SIS API,
but using that library under the hood at least for two-dimensional
geometries. This would allow us to plugin three-dimensional geometries
more easily later. However the ISO 19107 standard is under revision
right now, and it may be less effort to wait for stabilisation before to
venture in such wrappers (if we go that way)...
