Hello all

Some more notes about the OGC meeting, which is now over:

Coverage (ISO 19123):
----------------------------------------
ISO got many requests for changes from OGC. A revision has been
initiated within ISO/TC 211. If I'm understanding right, the XML schema
for ISO 19123 (GMLCov) would be done in parallel as ISO 19123-2.

Web Coverage Tile Service:
----------------------------------------
Continuing on the proposal to create something equivalent to Web Map
Tile Service (WMTS), but for the actual numerical data instead than
images. It has been proposed to put more specific use cases in the
charter in order to clarify the scope. Maybe some technologies could be
shared with CityGML, since they are used to deal with large amount of data.

TimeSeries ML:
----------------------------------------
TimeSeriesML 1.0 is a proposed encoding standard for the representation
of time series observation data. The standard working group is in
process of being formed. Their idea is to take an existing standard,
WaterML 2 part one, and expand its scope to broader context than hydrology.

Geosemantic
----------------------------------------
Geosemantic is a new group being formed at OGC, which plan to work in
collaboration with W3C. Their goal is to determine how spatial
information can best be integrated with other data on the web, and to
determine how to discover that different facts in different datasets
relate to the same place, especially when "place" is expressed in
different ways.

Asia forum:
----------------------------------------
The were lot of peoples in the OGC Asia Forum summit. Based on this
success, a Japan Forum will be created under the umbrella of the Asia
Forum. An example of presentation in the Asia Forum was about peoples
movements in emergency situation. Using mobile phone data, they
estimated the probability distribution of elapsed time before peoples
start moving. They also determined that the ratio of person going home
depends on the age and distance from home.

Augmented reality (ARML 2.0):
----------------------------------------
We had demonstration of mobile phones showing the image captured by
their camera, and putting on top of that additional information based on
the location (e.g. where are some particular store, or superimposing a
picture of what existed at that place, etc.).

Urban planing, InLocation alliance
----------------------------------------
I'm not familiar with all the urban aspects at OGC. I think some peoples
are aiming to harmonize aspects of CityGML with IndoorGML.

GeoJSON
----------------------------------------
GeoJSON is in process of being standardized outside OGC, as an IETF
standard. The IETF version is the version with the clear (corrected)
Coordinate Reference System (CRS) clauses. Later on, JSON encoding of
geometries may be standardized as a result of ISO 19107 work. As OGC
gains experience with other JSON encoding, OGC would try to move to
common patterns.

Common DataBase:
----------------------------------------
"Common DataBase" (CDB) seems to be basically like a java.util.Map on
the file system [1]. It has be maintained by industries for the last 4-5
years. There is a proposal to bring the exiting Common DataBase (CDB)
specification into the OGC standard process. I'm not sure what is the
"spatial" part of it, but I think that this question is in process of
being clarified.
