Hello !
Yes, I have to describe myself a little bit !
I started working in computer programming in 1992, mostly on IBM AS/400
computers (Cobol and RPG languages) along with some IBM-PC DOS programming
with C language.
Then I found C++ and enjoyed it more, and in year 2000, after the famous Y2K
and Euro projects that made the IBM mini systems and mainframe fall (most
enterprises choose then to switch to Windows computers instead of attempting
a big migration), I learned Java in the Conservatoire National des Arts et
Métiers of Paris, in order to become an engineer, and I teached there during
a few years after that.
About GIS, I have learned how to use GeoConcept, MapInfo and Quantum GIS,
but I have no knowledge else.
I tried to find an API able to help me for querying geographic datasources
and INSEE data, but found none able to work, after having tried some of
them.
I tought that the only thing to do was to search for the most advanced Java
GIS API project and start implementing it, in order to be sure that the
features I was searching for would one day exist.
By the way, I would learn geomatic fundamentals step by step, and each time
I will understand things more, I would be able to challenge more and more
the API we are creating in order to free it entierely from any bug it could
have.
Most of the work I will do on the project after this part on Dbase, will be
on debugging and reliability.
Regards,
Marc Le Bihan

I'm a bit late but welcome in the team,
Could you write a few words about you Marc ?
In which company you work, if you work on other GIS projects, or on
specifications at the OGC/ISO ?
Thanks
Johann Sorel

Hello all
I would like to welcome Marc Le Bihan on SIS's PMC. Marc is currently
working on the Shapefile module, making some of its functionalities
available through the JDBC interfaces.
I would like to let Marc presents himself, if he wishes!
