Hello all Apache SIS currently has a "sis-french-profile" module for extension to metadata defined by French agencies. Likewise I propose to create a "sis-japan-profile" module for extensions to netCDF reader for data published by Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The data are:
* Global Change Observation Mission - Climate (GCOM-C), a.k.a. "Shikisai". * Global Change Observation Mission - Water (GCOM-W), a.k.a. "Shizuku". Above are not new formats, but extensions to SIS netCDF reader for conventions specific to those data. Those extensions are currently defined in the "sis-earth-observation" module; I propose to move them in that new "sis-japan-profile" module. I have a little bit of hesitation to create a "sis-japan-profile" module for those data. While Japan is the producer, those data are for worldwide use (contrarily to "sis-french-profile" which is specific to France). The reason why I'm thinking to move them in a "sis-japan-profile" module anyway is because those data could have been represented in standard CF-compliant netCDF files; it is not clear to me why GCOM-specific conventions were created and I do not know if JAXA has any plan to move to CF-conventions in future versions. So from the point of view of compliance with the main standards (CF-conventions in the case of netCDF files), this is a little bit particular to a Japanese program. Any thought? Martin
