far be it for me to tell you where to spend your time, but.... for general node/property operations, I imagine that a Milton DavEx servlet will work. I have my doubts, however, about some of the more JCR-specific operations. Granted, not all of these work via DavEx now, but as they are, Sling will simply be able to take advantage of them by rolling a new davex bundle release.
