So these fonts actually came from this commit:

It *appears* that these are the [Open Sans Web Font
files|https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Open+Sans], but I'd like to confirm as
it seems like these are distributed as TTF files and the referenced files are
WOFF.
[~auniverseaway] – can you confirm that the referenced font files are the Open
Sans web fonts and are therefore Apache 2 Licensed? If so, I'll go ahead and
add the appended-resources LICENSE file.
