A very tentative list is at [0]. I am not sure what other think, but I for one would be happy with just switching to the feature modules and releasing. The tracking jira for that is [1]. As hinted in the description, we should have take care of: 1. Converting the Sling starter to the feature model 2. Generating the starter jar and war file from the feature model ( as opposed to the provisioning model). One option that was suggested was to generate a provisioning model out of all the feature model files and then reuse the provisioning model maven plugin to generate the artifacts. If someone is thinking of giving it a shot, I'd be more than happy to assist.
