I'm not quite sure why, but I think it has something to do with the yellow (or so it appears here without magnifying it) in the corner. Also, I think the transparent bg with white borders that Justin suggested is a good idea. I'm wondering though if it might not be a good idea to also put a *thin* white border around the text. Perhaps something on the order of 1/4 the width of the letter border. As it is, the text can smudge in pretty badly on some backgrounds.
