------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2005-04-08 12:02 ------- Request to reopen.... In the case where an RBL cache (ex. rblndsd) is running on the same machine as a general purpose DNS cache (bind, dnscache, etc.), possibly all on a dedicated SpamAssassin server, it can be considerably more memory-efficient to bypass the DNS cache for RBL queries. Without this feature: 1. SA sends query to DNS-cache 2. DNS-cache sends query to RBL-cache 3. DNS-cache caches the result from RBL-cache The result being that both caches now have the record stored in RAM. If the DNS cache is dedicated to SpamAssassin, it will quickly fill with ubiquitous RBL cache entries leaving little room for other entries. This can be is a significant issue for medium/high-volume sites.... I have a patch against 3.0.2 if anyone's interested... ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.
