No, I did understand. I was trying to make a point that a lot of
work is going into cleaning up DNS to be more modern, but that is still
many years away. As I just remarked to Loren's short but excellent post,
there is nothing wrong with ham hiting a few rules - It does not mean you
are a spammer. Lots of people do seem to take it personally if their own
site or domain hits any proposed rule - look at Hotmail, Lycos or even
the headers on people's list postings and see how many hit rules with
low score values (in particular the DNS_..ABUSE and DNS_..POST rules).
To be a spammer, you have to hit a lot of rules - a good example I got
about a hour ago hit:

to me, that is spam; hitting one, two or even five common rules (but not
SURBLs which are almost too accurate) won't get you labeled as spam on my
machines. Also, unlike the OP, I only said it was a good sign (not a clear
yes/no decision) -I would guess I would score it between one and two points.
Also, to make www.anything,domain.tld work, you *should* use a line
like:
www.* IN CNAME real_target
which would not hit the rule I had proposed (though there is still
a wildcard involved).
