w/o SSL it just drops the ", SSL..." but the AUTH stuff is still inside parens.
Here is an example I just tested:

Received: from gorkcomputer (cox.dns [::ffff:cox.ip])
  (AUTH: LOGIN [EMAIL PROTECTED])
  by mydomain.com with esmtp; Fri, 11 Nov 2005 11:31:06 -0600
  id 00178EB0.4374D55A.0000071F

Also testing with a HELO matching DNS (Doing AUTH LOGIN manually with telnet is
a chore!):

Received: from mydns.cox.net (mydns.cox.net [::ffff:my.ip.address])
  (AUTH: LOGIN [EMAIL PROTECTED])
  by mydomain.com with esmtp; Fri, 11 Nov 2005 11:40:59 -0600
  id 00178ECA.4374D7CA.00000DE4

The only thing of note is that courier compiles itself by default with IPv6
support which is why the ip address is ipv6 formatted. If courier is configured
without ipv6 support the "::ffff:" is not there. I have no idea how Spamassassin
deals with real ipv6 hosts in the headers (I suspect it does not), but that is a
problem for another day.
