I'm also +1 on pluginizing check (I haven't looked at the Michael's patch yet).
For similar reasons as Justin states -- I'd personally like to build decision
trees that have no regard for scores, making score prioritization and thus the
requirement for reporting maximum score adjustments would be a kludge that has
no guarantee of working as expected.
