I've seen a few random posts about this from others as well.
But it seem that the database backend with spamassassin stopped working with
Mysql 5.0.24. I had been running the backed for quite along time, now when I
try to start spamassassin I get the following errors. This happened when I
upgraded from 5.0.22 to 5.0.24. I even tried rebuilding the database server
from scratch. No luck.
Aug 21 17:35:18 yoda spamd[43891]: Transactions not supported by database
at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/mach/DBI.pm line 672.
If I stop running the database backend for spamd, it works fine.
