No no, run "spamassassin", not "spamd".  See what happens.  ie:

spamassassin -D < message_file > /dev/null

If things work, move forward and try with spamc/spamd.  See what happens.  If
things don't work, feel free to attach (via the web form) the message showing
the issue along with the full debug output from the run.

there's no point in including it, the file will be read normally.

spamc merely calls spamd.  spamd probably will do the same thing as
spamassassin, though it depends how you call it, how you configure it, file
permissions, etc, etc.
