We tested it and then promoted into production. I would hope that others will test it too, but I looked in the Postgres activity monitor and saw the correct SQLs in there and the difference to the load was absolutely enormous! The problem with the "IN" operator was that with a larger database and a high volume of emails, performance degradation was exponential.
