D. Stussy <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |software+spamassassin@kd6lv | |w.ampr.org --- Comment #2 from D. Stussy <[email protected]> 2011-08-09 20:37:29 UTC --- Since SOUGHT is its own ruleset independent of the official SA rules, I don't see it as appropriate for such a complaint to be a bug report here. I suggest that this be closed as INVALID/WONTFIX. Now, as to address the actual content of SOUGHT rules, since they come from mails received at spamtraps, I suggest that the real problem may be that facebook is being subjected to a string of forgery messages. I do note that they have deployed an SPF record (as the deprecated TXT-RR type, not as the SPF-RR type), but the problem may be that recipients are not checking. As SPF checking can (and should) be done at the SMTP "MAIL FROM:" state, with (hard)failures rejected immediately, forged messages should not pollute spamtraps. However, if they aren't forged, then something else is wrong here and the listing by SOUGHT generating a rule appears appropriate. [Or at least that's my understanding of the process.] If legitimate facebook messages are being sent to spamtraps, then the automatically generated rule(s) which results is(are) legitimate (in my opinion). However, facebook should not be polluted with spamtrap mailboxes, unless they are also spamming. As for "If you don't want to receive these emails ...", spammers say that too. To that extent, I fault facebook for acting [potentially] spammy. -- Configure bugmail: https://issues.apache.org/SpamAssassin/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug.
