Hi community,

I'm new to the Spark community,
and I'd like to discuss the first issue I'd like to work on. The problem is
as follows:

When executing the following two commands in spark-shell:

  -  CREATE TABLE default.test_table (test_col VARCHAR(10));
   - ALTER TABLE default.test_table ALTER COLUMN test_col TYPE VARCHAR(25);

The following error is reported:
  org.apache.spark.sql.AnalysisException: [NOT_SUPPORTED_CHANGE_COLUMN]
ALTER TABLE ALTER/CHANGE COLUMN is not supported for changing
`spark_catalog`.`default`.`test_table`'s column `test_col` with type
"VARCHAR(10)" to `test_col` with type "VARCHAR(25)". SQLSTATE: 0A000; line
1 pos 0

Looking forward to everyone's replies!

Best regards,
Zhiwei Niu
