We've discussed including this patch even with the avro 1.8.0 snapshot
dependency on [dev list|http://markmail.org/message/akqnll4zjpm3aqt4] and
decided to do so. I've tried to commit the patch, but it no longer applies.
Wondering if you're open to rebase it [~abec] or whether I should do that?
