I had a chance to test 0.9.4 with this patch on it, have not seen neither the 
exception, nor the WARN level message. It is already second day as it runs.
I observe some other errors, but I am sure now that they are side-effects of 
trying 0.9.4 as they happen in other bolts. The bolt that had the NPE is now 
functioning without errors.

Next step is to revert to pure 0.9.3 with only this patch applied.
