Kris has the right idea.

I was able to introduct javascript into an XHTML 1.0 Strict page, including use
of the logical operator '&&', and have it validate XHTML 1.0 Strict. The trick
is surrounding the script in a CDATA section as per Kris' illustration.

I'll investigate this further for a fix.

Does anyone have a reason why this is a bad approach?
