If a file was moved by someone else while you were working on it, I
think the best thing to do is a clean checkout in a separate dir. 
Then copy the file change to the new dir and revert the change in the
old dir.  Then remove the new dir and resume in the original dir after
you update.

Make sense?  I'm pretty sure that will work.
