I seem to remember the term "personal gain" from the TV series
"Charmed', but I for one am not a witch :)

The Apache License is designed to be business friendly. We expect and
encourage commercial uses of our products. As a result, it's not
uncommon for vendors of retail products to want to give back to open
source projects.

Another good example is JetBrains, which provides complementantry IDEA
licenses to many open source projects, including the ASF.

Of course, these licenses usually come with the stipulation that the
license is only to be used when working on open source projects. The
licenses are not for our personal use, but to help us with the
volunteer work we do for the foundation.
