I've had MSDN subscriptions in the past, it's handy to have access to just about everything they work on. For me, I was contemplating getting a copy of XP so that I can virtualize a machine with IE6 on it for testing example apps I am working on for my book. Then, when they offered the MSDN subscriptions, I thought, well that will save me some dough.
