Hi,

If you didn't notice, INFRA started moving release artifacts from
people.a.o to SvnPubSub and now everything is stored in SVN ;-) Below
is a log from my discussion with INFRA about that. I'm posting it here
to not forget update the Release guideline.

Hello!
Lukasz Lenart
8:21 AM
I have noticed that you started moving artifacts from people.a.o to SvnPubSub
Lukasz Lenart
8:22 AM
as Im going to release a new version of Struts where should I push the
artifacts?
Lukasz Lenart
8:22 AM
s/Im/I'm
Lukasz Lenart
8:24 AM
is it here https://svn.apache.org/repos/infra/release/struts/ ?
Gavin McDonald
8:28 AM
no
Lukasz Lenart
8:28 AM
ok
Gavin McDonald
8:28 AM
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/struts/
Linky
8:28 AM
dist - Revision 6951: /release/struts
Gavin McDonald
8:28 AM
and you already have done at some point, so I say you are good to carry on
add new release, remove old one
old one remains in archives
Lukasz Lenart
8:29 AM
ok, so I can simple commit new artifacts, remove old and so one
Gavin McDonald
8:30 AM
not sure I like that idea
Lukasz Lenart
8:30 AM
and everything will be synced to people.a.o ?
Gavin McDonald
8:30 AM
ignore people.a.o but yes it will sync there as a backup
Lukasz Lenart
8:31 AM
ok,
Lukasz Lenart
8:31 AM
what about download.cgi, do I need change anything?
Lukasz Lenart
8:31 AM
http://struts.apache.org/download.cgi#struts23163
Gavin McDonald
8:31 AM
Lukasz you should add a release in an overall release dir , take a
look at others
Linky
8:31 AM
Download a Release
Use the links below to download a release of Apache Struts from one of
our mirrors. You can verify the integrity of the downloaded files
using signatures downloaded from our main distribution directory.
Gavin McDonald
8:31 AM
nothing to change on download.cgi
Lukasz Lenart
8:32 AM
you meant here -> https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/struts/ ?
Linky
8:32 AM
dist - Revision 6951: /release/struts
Gavin McDonald
8:33 AM
of course I meant there, thats the exact link I gave you :)
you have no top level release name as in 0.1 , 0.2 etc
Lukasz Lenart
8:33 AM
great! I thought that you're talking about something else ;-)
Gavin McDonald
8:33 AM
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/geronimo/
Linky
8:33 AM
dist - Revision 6951: /release/geronimo
Gavin McDonald
8:34 AM
look how they seperate releases, you dont have that.
Lukasz Lenart
8:34 AM
ah... the layout was changed
Gavin McDonald
8:34 AM
Rather than add and remove from whats there it would be better to
remove say 0.2 as a whole and add 0.3 etc ...
Lukasz Lenart
8:34 AM
I was following as it was when I joined Apache
Gavin McDonald
8:34 AM
make sense ?
Lukasz Lenart
8:35 AM
sure thing!
Gavin McDonald
8:35 AM
cool
Lukasz Lenart
8:36 AM
ok, but does it mean that I have to change download.cgi or rather
redefine its usage on page?
Lukasz Lenart
8:36 AM
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/struts/site/trunk/source/download.html
Gavin McDonald
8:36 AM
not sure, dont think so
Lukasz Lenart
8:37 AM
struts-{{ site.current_version }}-all.zip
Gavin McDonald
8:37 AM
it gets mirrored back to the usual release area at apache.org/dist/$project
Lukasz Lenart
8:37 AM
so I must adjust this to the new layout
Gavin McDonald
8:37 AM
ok
leave that to you
Lukasz Lenart
8:37 AM
ok, I will handle it ;-)
Lukasz Lenart
8:38 AM
one more question
Gavin McDonald
8:38 AM
shoot
Lukasz Lenart
8:38 AM
during the test phase I was pushing artifacts to
http://people.apache.org/builds/struts/
Linky
8:38 AM
Index of /builds/struts
Lukasz Lenart
8:39 AM
to allow users download and test the new release before it will be
officially released
Gavin McDonald
8:39 AM
we have better
Lukasz Lenart
8:39 AM
as in this mail http://markmail.org/message/rfbphd3bilw672qc
Linky
8:40 AM
[VOTE] Struts 2.3.18 - Lukasz Lenart - org.apache.struts.dev - MarkMail
The Apache Struts 2.3.18 test build is now available.
Gavin McDonald
8:40 AM
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/struts/
Linky
8:40 AM
dist - Revision 6951: /dev/struts
Lukasz Lenart
8:40 AM
ok, I'm listning
Gavin McDonald
8:40 AM
notice 'dev'
and not 'release'
Lukasz Lenart
8:40 AM
I see it
Gavin McDonald
8:40 AM
in the url
so push your stuff to vote on there
and even better, if it passes you can svn mv it from dev to release
Lukasz Lenart
8:41 AM
and the link should be the same or is it synced somewhere else?
Gavin McDonald
8:41 AM
that dev area doesnt get synced
feel free to use it directly
Lukasz Lenart
8:43 AM
cool! thanks, now I have to update the release guideline :p
Gavin McDonald
8:44 AM
should be much easier
