This is fairly old. A backport would be easy. As far as I can tell the process crashes on exit, i.e. there is no harm done to the repository or anything dangerous like that. Inetd will run svnserve again when the next client connects. It doesn't sound as if this was seriously harming operation. Though a clean exit is of course the proper thing to do...
