Yes, one might want to use dmenu simply as command launcher, no matter
what's piped into it. If the list changes dynamically, then it is not
possible anymore to predict dmenu's behavior. And it may not be
possible to insert a custom command in dmenu, because it may not
appear at all.

Do you know about McIlroy's tale about `cat'? (Sorry, I have no URL
at hand.) I see much equality here.

So, please do not include such behavior into dmenu.


If someone wants such behavior though, it is easy to implement with a
wrapper script.
