Heyho, I remember from a discussion quite a while ago that the plan was to base the successor of surf on blink/v8 and move away from Webkit. I already played around a bit with the CEF (chromium embedded framework) [0] and noticed a few drawbacks: - multithreading - C interface is not documented very well It was also agreed upon the fact that the web sucks and the goal of surf is to provide a suckless interface to this sucking world. Webkit may(!) be more clean, but it lacks quite a few of those „modern web 3.something“ features, which are implemented in blink/v8. Webkit also probably is not catching up in the near future, so I think blink/v8 is a better foundation to build a suckless interface around. --Markus 0: https://github.com/schachmat/smurf
