Hi community, For years Superset users have asked for a simple date picker option for time range filtering. I know I have had users complain that all of the current options are too complex for them.
Now there is a PR that implements it: https://github.com/apache/superset/pull/44527 Thank you Pravin Maske for your work on this! Before it gets merged, there is an open question from a long-standing SIP, SIP-116, that originally proposed this addition. (The PR author developed this PR independent of the SIP design discussion). That question is, should this be a new kind of dashboard native filter (that's what is on the PR now) or should it be combined into the existing time range filter? And if combined, does it become a new option or do we integrate it into e.g., the advanced filter? Here's my link to that thread and a particular comment I left (feel free to read the whole discussion though, a lot of thought has been put into this discussion): https://github.com/apache/superset/issues/26651#issuecomment-6164814918 I would like to hear from Superset users or admins (on that SIP-116 discussion thread ideally, though here is okay too): where should this simple date picking functionality live? More input would be really helpful here! We can always combine things later, but doing so now would avoid a migration, and the developer of this feature seems committed to responding to whatever changes the community agrees upon to get this to the best place possible before merging. The Superset community needs your user feedback here. Thanks, Sam Apache Superset PMC member
