Hello everyone! I would like to open a discussion on SIP-237: Include Applied Filter Settings in Excel and CSV Exports.
Currently, in Superset, when exporting table charts or dashboard data to Excel (.xlsx) or CSV, Superset only exports the raw filtered data rows. The active filter parameters (native filters, filter bar settings, time ranges, etc.) that generated by the specific dataset are lost upon export. This makes it difficult for recipients of the exported files to understand or verify the data context (e.g., which time range, region, or status was selected when the export was triggered). To preserve the current export behaviour, we propose adding new filter options directly to the existing export menus. When a user selects Export to Excel, the menu would provide two choices: * Without filter metadata -> exports the data using the current behaviour. * Include applied filters -> includes the active filter settings used to generate the export. When a user selects Export to .CSV, the menu could provide another option in addition to the one's above: * Include filters in metadata comments -> prepends active filter metadata to the top of the CSV using # comment prefixing so the file remains parseable while storing filter context inline. This could follow the same interaction pattern as the screenshot export options, where users can choose between Transparent background and Solid background.
