i think this has something to do with how dojo copies the dialog's DOM fragment
into a new fragment rooted just under the <html> element node. At least that's
how it worked last time I checked.
my guess is that the event handlers are getting attached to the DOM nodes of
the original fragment, not the copies which get displayed when the user
activates the dialog.
