Contribution isn't the only way to own copyright.
If they paid for it, they can own copyright.
Joint copyright is a mess - is it severally or jointly? Can't tell.
If you can, an SG is good.

I found only:

which implies it's from version 1.7 and included WHIP plugin (that's a
Southampton thing, right?).
Did it first live in Rubyforge or http://www.trianacode.org/ ?

Do anyone remember why this particular copyright? Did Southampton and
Cardiff even contribute here? Did they not sign the CLAs to
Manchester?
