Jake Farrell commented on THRIFT-304:
-------------------------------------

Both distutils and setuputils do not provide for an easy way to automate a
check to build the extension. As of thrift 0.7 a new part of the release
process was added where the python libs are now available on pypi as a
compilable package as well as python 2.6 and 2.7 eggs.

> Thrift doesn't require any compiled Python modules. If the Python
> development headers are not present, we should just install the pure Python
> library.
